The Chicago Bulls are currently enduring a nightmare of a season. Faced with the firing of their former head coach, multiple injuries, and plenty of underwhelming performances from the roster, the team has dropped to 6-21. After the latest blowout loss to the Boston Celtics, guards Zach LaVine and Justin Holiday have reportedly tried to right the ship with a players-only meeting.

Per Malika Andrews of ESPN, the meeting was triggered by the loss and actually ended up replacing a planned practice session.

“After suffering the worst loss in franchise history on Saturday night, Zach LaVine and Justin Holiday led a two-hour, players-only meeting in lieu of the practice Boylen had planned for the team on Sunday.”

The 56-point loss was the biggest win in Celtics history and the worst loss for the Bulls franchise. The Bulls were completely humiliated in every aspect of the game as the final score of 133-77 showed.

Chicago is a young team with a new head coach in Jim Boylan that has been deemed “demonstrative, edgy and unafraid of confrontation,” the direct opposite of his predecessor Fred Hoiberg.

Boylan has not been shy in benching players that he feels are not performing up to standards, and it seems to have rubbed the players the wrong way.  The two sides have unsurprisingly not meshed yet, and the Bulls have continued to lose games in embarrassing fashion.

It's not a shock that the team is struggling, but losses of this caliber are unacceptable to any professional team. It's good to see two of the older players on the roster in Justin Holiday and Zach LaVine speak up for their teammates but without a mutual respect between the coach and his players, the team will never bounce back from this terrible start.
