One of the top lane stars of the LCK, Kim “Canna” Chang-dong, has moved teams in the LCK after a contract dispute. As announced on Thursday, Canna has made his exit from T1, with Nongshim (NS) RedForce picking him up to complete their 2022 roster. He is only the latest in what has been quite the purge for top LCK squads this off-season, with the roster mania shifting around several well-known pieces.

Back in 2020, Canna had signed a two-year deal with T1. After playing as the starting top laner for the LCK powerhouse for much of their 2021 campaign, he was set to renegotiate his salary for next year. Supposedly, Canna had a verbal agreement with the late John Kim, former T1 COO, for the player to become a free agent should the two parties be unable to mutually agree on a salary.

However, T1 said that Canna requested for a transfer at least thrice this past season, which made it unlikely that they wanted to continue keeping him on the team for 2022. The top laner's agent, however, claimed this was a result of some miscommunication that led to his “unfair” dismissal from the roster. In the end, the two sides did decide to part ways.

Just hours after T1 announced that Canna would be moving on, NS RedForce revealed that they had signed the top laner. The rising star joins other familiar faces in the Korean pro League scene, including former Gen.G mid laner Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong and ADC superstar Jang “Ghost” Yong-Jun, who won the 2020 World Championship and 2021 LCK Summer crown with Damwon Gaming.
