The Arizona Cardinals are sputtering to the finish line of the 2019 NFL season heading into Week 15. It appears outside linebacker Terrell Suggs will not be around for the finish.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Cardinals have opted to release Suggs prior to their homestand versus the Cleveland Browns.

Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury announced the team has released veteran OLB Terrell Suggs.

Even if Suggs does not get claimed off waivers, he is still set to receive his payday.

The Cardinals gave Terrell Suggs a $4 million signing bonus in March and owe him the rest of his $3M guaranteed salary if he's not claimed. Now, cut. Any team claiming Suggs would owe him only the prorated portion of that $3M salary for rest of 2019.

Suggs was one of the more notable additions Arizona made after bringing him in on a one-year, $7 million deal this offseason. Unfortunately, his arrival has done little to keep this defense from emerging as the worst group in the league. Although their issues transcend far beyond any of Suggs' shortcomings, the decision to part ways is just further evidence of their ongoing rebuild.

Suggs registered 37 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 13 games with the Cardinals. While the veteran's efforts largely flew under the radar due to the team's 3-9-1 record, his resume should still garner plenty of interest from potential playoff contenders around the league. It will be interesting to see which of these teams are hoping to beef up their depth on the edge with just three games left in the season.
