After the recent Kevin Love-Cleveland Cavaliers extension, more details are surfacing on how the deal went down as well as comments from around the league.

As reported by Terry Pluto of Cleveland.com, an NBA executive said that Love was willing to stay with the Cavaliers no matter what. Even if the Cavs didn't offer him the maximum deal.

“Kevin is a really good guy. When he said he wanted to stay and was willing to take less than the max (maximum contract), they had to keep him.”

Another NBA coach said it's a rather difficult task to lure in free agents in Cleveland. So the Cavaliers are, up to a certain extent, lucky in getting him four years ago. Love, despite all the criticisms he has faced since donning the wine and gold, is still an All-Star. And the Cavs have to do anything they can to keep him:

“It's hard to get free agents to come to Cleveland. Kevin is an All-Star. I don't know if he's good enough to lead them to the playoffs, But I do know he's an All-Star who wants to play in Cleveland. You keep him if you can.”

Indeed, the Cavaliers were pretty lucky that they landed a player like Love. It's hard to find loyalty in this business. Hopefully, though, the Cavaliers can take advantage of the opportunity they've been given.
