The whispers have become a reality with the Boston Celtics on Wednesday morning. After being eliminated from the NBA playoffs by the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, major overhaul is now happening with the franchise.

Via Shams Charania of The Athletic, Brad Stevens is set to replace Danny Ainge.

With this move, Ainge's departure doesn't leave his spot vacant as Brad Stevens will become the new head of basketball operations as Ainge leaves his post as Celtics President. Where the vacancy rests at is with the head coaching position, as Stevens will leave that spot for his new gig within the franchise.

Stevens is expected to lead the charge in finding Boston's new head coach in a wild shakeup to the Celtics' front office.

This past season was one of disappointment and letdowns for the Celtics. After entering the season with dreams of competing for the Eastern Conference crown, Boston had to work through the play-in tournament just to make the playoffs.

A season ending injury to Jaylen Brown near the end of the regular season didn't help and neither did Kemba Walker's injury that held him out of the last two postseason games against the Nets. Despite that, it was still an underwhelming season for the Celtics as they could never flip the switch and piece everything together.

Now, Stevens takes over the role that Danny Ainge had held onto since 2003. Stevens' first order of business will be finding the right head coach to take over this current Celtics roster.

While many believed the moves would come within the roster, the first bombshell has come from the top of the food chain with the Celtics.
