The Boston Celtics' newly-acquired guard in Evan Fournier had a disappointing debut with the team against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night. After the Frenchman failed to meet expectations, his new teammate in Kemba Walker remains confident in his abilities and trusts that he can eventually find his footing within the team sooner than later, via Jay King.

Fournier has always been known as a capable scorer ever since he came to the league back in 2012. He eventually developed his playmaking abilities over the years and is currently tallying career-high numbers midway through the 2020-21 season.

He averaged 19.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 26 games played for the Orlando Magic. His knack for scoring points in bunches made him an intriguing target at this season's trade deadline as the Magic decided to go on a full-blown rebuild. Amid a number of several interested teams, the Celtics successfully landed Fournier's services as they gave up veteran point guard Jeff Teague and two second-round picks in return.

On Monday night against the Pelicans, Fournier went scoreless on 10 attempts from the field and only managed to grab two rebounds in 32 minutes of action. His production could've come in handy for the Celtics as they fell short and succumbed to the Pelicans in a 115-109 loss.

With Boston continuing to struggle with a 23-24 record, better performances will be expected from Evan Fournier in their coming games. Hopefully, he can emerge as a vital contributor to the team as they aim to secure a playoff spot in the months to come.
