Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart has encountered quite a few injuries over the years, though in his defense, the two-way workhorse typically plays through the pain more often than not.

This time around, Smart admitted he is battling a few injuries at the moment, with both his hip and hand ailing as the Celtics continue to serve as one of the top teams in the NBA.

Despite playing against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday afternoon, Smart told reporters that he previously sustained a “banged up” hip and a few “sprained fingers” on Friday evening against the Golden State Warriors.

Even so, Smart still suited up against the Sacramento over the weekend, though he and the Celtics suffered just the team's second loss of the year.

With the Kings stealing a win over the now 10-2 Celtics, Smart actually almost sent his team home at 11-1 with his buzzer-beating attempt. Unfortunately, it was ultimately no good — but not by much.

The Celtics lost 100-99 and play the Phoenix Suns on Monday in an attempt to start a new massive winning streak.

As it stands today, the 10-2 Celtics sit atop the Eastern Conference standings, just ahead of the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks — both of which have accumulated solid 9-3 records.

The Toronto Raptors are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference at 9-4, Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers won on Sunday afternoon over the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers en route to pulling within one game of the defending NBA Champions at 8-5.

If the Celtics are going to run the table in the dangerous Eastern Conference, Smart must remain on the court.
