After contracting the coronavirus in March, Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart reminisced on his experience and formulated some helpful advice for everyone, especially the younger players.

Smart spoke to several reporters via video call on Tuesday, during which he advised younger players to take the coronavirus “seriously.” He pointed out that the asymptomatic cases are the real problem, as patients believe they don't have it while they are the ones actually spreading the dreaded disease.

The Celtics guard emphasized that the virus affects people differently, so everyone should practice extreme precautions.

“Us older guys, and especially guys who have had COVID, like me, really express and really chewing down on the fact to take it as serious as possible,” the six-year Celtics vet said, per Darren Hartwell of NBC Sports.

“I think the younger guys are going to have some skepticism but I think as veteran guys and other guys on the team, we'll have to do our part to keep those guys, I guess, in a sense, under control and just understanding that although you might not take it as serious, you're putting other people at risk and they take it seriously, so you have to respect them.”

Marcus Smart and the Celtics are one of the 22 teams set to return to action on July 30 for the NBA restart. With a 43-21 record for third in the East, the Brad Stevens-coached squad has already qualified for the postseason.

Several analysts believe that the Celtics are the dark horse candidates to win it all this season. In their first game back, they will face the Milwaukee Bucks before taking on the Portland Trail Blazers, Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic, Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards.
