Marcus Smart played his role for the Boston Celtics during Friday's marquee matchup against the Brooklyn Nets. The Cs came out on the losing end, however, and Smart had a bit of a Shaqtin' a Fool moment during a key juncture late in the contest.

Smart passed the ball to an open teammate in the corner for what would have been a wide-open triple. Unfortunately, the teammate Smart passed the ball too was on the bench.

The Celtics were down by five at that point in the game, and they could have made it a one-possession game if they were able to score. This is exactly what Kemba Walker told Marcus Smart right after the play as he encouraged his Celtics teammate to take the shot.

As you may have heard in the broadcast, the commentators were pinning the blame on Evan Fournier, who was supposed to be positioned in the corner. This was Fournier's first game back after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to the league's health and safety protocols. He hasn't played in too many games since his arrival to Boston, so he still needs some time to get accustomed to coach Brad Stevens' system.

Aside from Kemba, Jaylen Brown also sat out on Friday as a shorthanded Celtics side failed to defeat the Nets on their home floor.
