Marcus Smart came back with a vengeance on Thursday night as he helped the Boston Celtics blow out the Miami Heat, 127-102, in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. After missing Game 1 due to an injury, Smart absolutely made up for lost time on Thursday.

The newly-minted Defensive Player of the Year came out with one of his best performances of the playoffs thus far, finishing with 24 points, nine rebounds, 12 assists, three steals, a block, and five triples. The Celtics star's amazing display has now put him in the territory of LeBron James and Boston icon Larry Bird (h/t Taylor Snow of Celtics.com):

Marcus Smart is just the 6th player in NBA playoff history to log at least 24 points, 12 assists, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals in a game.

The others: Larry Bird, LeBron James, Rod Strickland, Isiah Thomas, Russell Westbrook

That's a pretty strong list and it comes as no surprise that Smart has made the cut — especially after his masterclass on Thursday night. The Celtics guard was aggressive from the get-go and he never took his foot off the gas. Needless to say, Boston will need Smart to be healthy the rest of the way if they hope to upset the mighty Heat in this series.
