The Kansas City Chiefs aim to make a third Super Bowl appearance in a row. To do so, they must find a way to defeat the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 2022 NFL playoffs. In an interesting decision, the front office has gone out of its way to acquire troubled cornerback Damon Arnette to their roster.

According to Field Yates, the Chiefs have officially signed former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette to a Reserve/Futures contract. That doesn't necessarily mean he's on the official roster. However, Kansas City now has the rights to Arnette's future in football.

Arnette, of course, was a first-round pick selected by the Raiders. He gained attention after posting a controversial video waving a gun around and making threats to an unknown person. Furthermore, Damon Arnette was involved in a hit and run in 2020, which didn't come to light until after former teammate Henry Ruggs was involved in a fatal drunk driving accident in Las Vegas. It seems the Chiefs don't mind the multiple red flags surrounding the troubled cornerback.

Damon Arnette is not eligible to play this year, which means he won't suit up against the Bills on Sunday Night Football. If the Chiefs advance, they still won't be able to utilize Arnette at all. This is strictly a move made for next season and beyond. There is no denying Arnette's talents on the field. It's just his actions off of the field are extremely worrisome.

We'll see how it all plays out, but how he fits within the organization is yet to be determined. The Chiefs don't have the best defense and if they can turn Arnette's attitude around they could have a legitimate cornerback in the secondary. Not many are hopeful he can make that transition and keep his NFL career alive, but Kansas City seems to think they can help this young man out.
