The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl this past season and other sports franchises in Kansas City are experiencing the aftermath of the victory. Ahead of the upcoming season, the Kansas City Royals have rescheduled one of their games in September to accommodate the Chiefs' home opener in 2020.

On Wednesday, the Royals—the Major League Baseball team in Kansas City—made a statement on altering their schedule for the Chiefs. Instead of having a game on Sept. 10, the Royals will now have a doubleheader on Sept. 8.

The reason for the Royals to move their scheduled game to an earlier date is due to Arrowhead Stadium being located right next door. As a result, the Royals and Chiefs share parking if they were to have a game on the same day. Therefore, it makes sense for them to reschedule to an earlier date.

In the NFL, they typically try to have the reigning Super Bowl champions open the season on Thursday Night Football. However, last year, the New England Patriots began their season on Sunday Night Football. Even though it hasn't been confirmed yet, it's now become more plausible for the Chiefs to host a team to kick off the 2020 campaign.

Regardless of who they play, the first home game for the Chiefs is going to be quite the spectacle. After winning the franchise's first Super Bowl since 1969-70, the fans at Arrowhead Stadium are going to be as loud as ever. The Royals, who won a World Series back in 2015, understand the magnitude of winning a championship in Kansas City.
