Despite choosing the NFL over the MLB, Patrick Mahomes hasn't lost interest in being involved in baseball. Amid an action-packed offseason with the Kansas City Chiefs, Mahomes spoke about his ownership stake in the Kansas City Royals and his love for baseball.

“I love baseball,” Mahomes said, via ESPN's Adam Teicher. “I grew up in clubhouses. I love everything about it.

“When the Royals were bought last year by [John Sherman], I wanted to be a part of it. It took a little bit of time. These things take time. So it took almost a year to get the language right and doing it at the right time with everything going on in the world. But we were able to do it and they were able to let me join in with them and be a part of something that's going to be long-term.”

Following Kansas City's Super Bowl victory, the Chiefs inked Mahomes to a historic extension worth $503 million over 10 years. Then, his remarkable offseason continued when he purchased an ownership stake in the Royals. As a result, he became the youngest owner in sports history.

Of course, the gunslinging quarterback grew up around baseball as a kid. His father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., played in the MLB for 12 seasons. While he loved football, the Chiefs signal-caller also played baseball before committing to his dream of playing in the NFL at Texas Tech.

When watching Mahomes throw the football, it's evident that he has a baseball background with his uncanny arm angles. Even though he didn't get a chance to pitch in the MLB, he's still leaving his mark in the baseball world.
