Ming โ€œClearloveโ€ Kai returns to the competitive stage after a brief period as head coach of EDward Gaming. The announcement was made on EDG's official Twitter account. Clearlove is now back to flex his veteran Jungler skills on the region.

Rebuilding a legend

EDward Gaming dominated the Chinese region in the past. Unfortunately, the team massively underperformed in the recently concluded 2020 season. It comes as to no shock why EDG would rely on Clearlove once more. The Jungler helped secure multiple local titles and Worlds appearances for EDG. He has been a consistent presence in the scene since he debuted in 2012 with Team WE. Clearlove is still out to secure a Summoner's Cup for himself.

His return could also be in response to China's failure to secure a third consecutive title. Suning was soundly defeated at Worlds 2020 by a rampaging DAMWON Gaming. It clearly sent a message that the South Korean region still had world contenders among their ranks. The LCK effectively halted the CN region's attempt at dominating the international League of Legends scene. There's no better time for a former legend to resume his post to help his home region. Clearlove will have to overcome many challenges after his 1-year hiatus.

Clearlove has had a checkered past on the international LOL stage save for one glowing victory. He took home the championship in the 2015 Mid-Season Invitational, the first international win for China. EDG has made no other announcements regarding their roster during the ongoing offseason. Fans will have to wait for further updates regarding which players will be joining Clearlove. Hopefully, Clearlove still has it in him to compete on the highest level of LOL.
