League of Legends reigning World Champions EDward Gaming (EDG) have revealed their 2022 LPL roster as they look to take the domestic title in the upcoming season. The Chinese powerhouse has also brought onboard former star player Ming “Clearlove” Kai to join the coaching staff as a supervisor.

In an amazing showing at Worlds 2021, EDG pulled off three consecutive five-game series to take the crown away from LCK side Damwon Gaming. After their monumental success, all the players from the title-winning side have continued with the org into the 2022 season. This is a huge statement from EDG and the players as they'll look to continue their dominance domestically and defend their LPL title.

This means we will get to see top laner Li “Flandre” Xuan-Jun, jungler Zhao “JieJie” Li-Jie, mid laner Lee “Scout” Ye-chan, marksman Park “Viper” Do-hyeon, and support Tian “Meiko” Ye all onboard for the upcoming LPL Spring Split. EDG also kept their substitute top laner Huang “Xiaoxiang” Xiang.

On the other hand, the coaching staff underwent a few changes, with one outgoing and two additions. Chung “Hua” Chenhua, formerly known as “Zero” of Victory Five, has joined as an analyst, while Clearlove is back with EDG once again. The former pro replaces Zhu “Kenju” Kai, who had moved over to rivals Royal Never Give Up as team manager. As for the rest of the coaching staff, head coach Yang “Maokai” Ji-Song reprises his role to steer the team to victory, supported by managers Jin “Hibari” Xing-Yu and assistant Wang “Jasper” Yi-Fan.

Long-time EDG fans will be happy to see Clearlove returning to the org. He has played close to 300 games for the side since 2014. This ranks him third only to Meiko and Scout who have over 500 and 400 games, respectively. He retired from pro play in 2019, transitioning to EDG's head coach position. That stint was short-lived, but the former pro did get to play a few games as a substitute jungler.

EDG has crucially kept its main roster and coaching infrastructure mostly intact. Now the powerhouse will be looking to keep the LPL throne to themselves when the Spring Split kicks off on January 10.
