Veterans of NBA Twitter remember exactly where they were during the infamous Battle for DeAndre Jordan. DJ, who played for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2015, was set to sign with the Dallas Mavericks. However, at the last moment, he reneged on the deal and decided to stay with the Clips.

What followed was a crazy night of “driving around Dallas,” emoji subtweeting, and a legendary chair. That night was immortalized in NBA Twitter as one of the funniest things to happen on the platform. Blake Griffin, who himself took part in the shenanigans, certainly thinks that way, too.

While talking about that hilarious night with former Clippers teammate JJ Redick on the latter's podcast, Griffin had this to say (via Fadeaway World, Old Man and the Three podcast)

“That was so much fun. Once he was like ‘Yeah, I’m coming back [to the Clippers],' it was just free rein to think of whatever you could to keep this thing going. I think that was the most fun. I guess I’m biased because I’m involved but that was the funniest day on NBA Twitter.”

Griffin, if you recall, was the author of this out-of-context tweet that sent NBA Twitter laughing on the floor.

What makes everything funnier, though, was the fact that Blake Griffin and all the Clippers players knew what Jordan's final decision was. Instead of staying mum about it though, Griffin–the resident comedian of the NBA–decided he'd stir the pot a bit by sending that tweet. After that, the rest was history.

DeAndre Jordan would eventually leave the Clippers three years later to finally join the Mavs, but that fateful day in July will forever be remembered by hardcore NBA fans as the funniest night in NBA history.
