Many former Los Angeles Clippers players have shared their opinions on FX's new show Clipped. Chris Paul said some things did not happen that were included in the show. Jamal Crawford and JJ Redick also recently reacted to the new show. DeAndre Jordan has yet to watch Clipped, however.
Jordan began his NBA career with the Clippers in 2008. He would play with the team through the 2017-18 season. Jordan established a reputation as one of the better all-around centers in the league. Blake Griffin and Jordan led the “Lob City” era as Chris Paul consistently tossed the star big men alley-oops which led to memorable highlights.
So why hasn't Jordan watch Clipped yet? For those who may not be aware, the show focuses on the “Lob City” era Clippers when Donald Sterling was still the owner. It takes a look at Sterling's unsettling controversies and how they impacted the team.
“Shout out to those people for putting that on. That’s awesome, its entertaining,” Jordan said during a recent appearance on Podcast P with Paul George presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment. “However, I had nothing to do with that. I don’t think any of my teammates had anything to do with that. I think the best part they got was Matt [Barnes] and Ed O’Neil is embodying Sterling in a way that’s kind of funny. I haven’t seen the show yet, only snippets and clips of what people have sent me…Where's my camera at?
“I have never in my life had a cosmopolitan drink but it’s depicted in the show that I like those drinks. I mean, I may try one now, but I’m more of a tequila wine guy.”
DeAndre Jordan's painfully honest reason for not watching Clipped
George then asked Jordan why the former Clippers star has not watched any episodes of the show.
“Because I don’t know how realistic it was gonna be because I know it hadn’t gone through any of my former teammates,” Jordan said. “So I’m like, well if you aren’t getting stories from them, where are the stories coming from? I’m sure it’s loosely based off of some things that have happened but entertainment sells so it’s [shrugs]…I mean we text about it for sure, like we talk about it like the practice scene when Doc is going crazy on guys.
“Don’t get it twisted Doc was on guys but some of the things he said on there were absolutely false…I love Matt Barnes and Doc, You think if Doc said what he said in the show to Matt Barnes there wouldn’t have been a fistfight on the court?”
DeAndre Jordan acknowledged that it is for entertainment purposes and knows that draws attention. That does not mean he is interested in watching it. After all, he referred to one scene as “absolutely false” and Jordan has only seen clips from the show.
The Clippers featured no shortage of potential but failed to win a championship. They had one of the greatest core of players ever to never win a championship. It is interesting that DeAndre Jordan and Paul George discussed the show, as George is of course now playing for the Clippers.
George's Clippers are also talented but they have continued to fall short in the postseason. Rumors are currently swirling about his potential departure this offseason.
As for Jordan, it doesn't seem likely that he will be watching Clipped anytime soon.
