The loss of DeAndre Jordan finally signified that the L.A. Clippers are heading to rebuild mode. Head coach Doc Rivers shared his comments on the matter, saying this stage is relatively easy for the team since they haven't really won anything.

Rivers, who coached the Boston Celtics to a title in 2007-2008, was asked about what his former team did after they won a ring as compared to what's happening with the Clippers right now. Rivers' answer was frank and direct to the point.

“Yeah, but we’re rebuilding in a little different way,” he told Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald. “And, you know, it’s easy to rebuild when you haven’t won, you know what I mean? We won in Boston, so rebuilding there is tough. We haven’t won crap in LA, but we’re trying to.

“The goal is to win, and once you win — if you ever do — then I don’t want to rebuild anymore. Then you go to the next one. That’s the way I look at it.”

The Clippers lost their big three one by one. During the summer of 2017, Chris Paul was sent via trade to the Houston Rockets. Midseason, it was Blake Griffin's turn to be traded to the Detroit Pistons. Recently, Jordan finally signed with the Dallas Mavericks.

Rivers' statements make sense. They haven't figured out how to win big in the NBA. So in a sense, they are still in the laboratory, experimenting with different elements, mixtures, and ingredients. When you haven't gained anything, you really have nothing to lose.
