Los Angeles Clippers superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard says the idea of playing with Paul George first started back in the summer of 2017 when he tried to get the San Antonio Spurs to trade for George after PG requested a trade from the Indiana Pacers.

George wound up getting traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but it has all come full circle for Leonard and George, who are now teammates on the Clippers:

“The idea (of playing together) started probably me playing in San Antonio and him being on the Pacers,” Leonard told Rachel Nichols of ESPN. “I was trying to get San Antonio to get him over with us. He ended up to the Thunder, probably had a better package for him. That's probably when the initial idea started, when he wanted to get out of Indiana.”

Both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are from California. Now, the two All-Stars will try to lead the Clippers to their first-ever championship in 2019-20.

With Leonard and George on the roster, the Clippers are title contenders for the first time in franchise history. The Battle of Los Angeles is going to be epic in 2019-20. You have LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the Lakers and Kawhi Leonard and Paul George on the Clippers.

Basketball fans in LA are going to be spoiled for the next few years.
