L.A. Clippers big man DeAndre Jordan was being touted as the next big name to be traded earlier in the season. That trade chatter has since died down in recent weeks, though.

According to NBA insider Michael Scotto on his appearance on the HoopsHype Podcast, he believes the Clippers will still see what they can potentially get for Jordan ahead of the trade deadline. However, he also reveals that he’s heard some talk of making Jordan a “Clipper for life.”

Alex Kennedy: Do you think we see DeAndre Jordan get moved before free agency this upcoming summer?

Michael Scotto: I think certainly the Clippers will gauge his value in the trade market. That said, it’s funny because around the league you hear conflicting things. I think the people who want DeAndre Jordan are pushing the narrative that the Clippers are trying to get rid of him. I don’t necessarily get that vibe if you’re the Clippers. Because I’ve heard from some people, they want to keep DeAndre and make him a Clipper for life with Blake Griffin. So really, it depends who you talk to.

It speaks to the Clippers’ dearth of success throughout the years that DeAndre Jordan, who has spent his entire 10-year career in L.A., could already be considered one of the five best players in franchise history. Some within the organization likely view him as such, which is why it makes some sense for them to try to keep Jordan along with Griffin as the two Clippers lifers.

Having said that, the Clippers should still do their due diligence and see what’s out there for Jordan before he hits free agency. But if they don’t like the offers that are out there, it shouldn't be a big surprise if they hold onto what is essentially a franchise great and attempt to re-sign him in the summer.
