Thursday night in the NCAA will showcase this Big Ten matchup! It's time to continue our college basketball odds series with a Wisconsin-Nebraska prediction and pick.

Wisconsin is coming off what is considered an upset by Michigan State last time out 86-74. They dropped three spots in the rankings because of it and fell down to No. 11. They are (15-3) on the season and (6-2) in the conference have a very favorable matchup ahead of them. Nebraska is one of two teams in the conference with a losing record (Penn State). They are just (6-13) on the year and (0-8) in the conference. Nebraska is coming off a 78-71 loss to Indiana last time out.

Why Wisconsin Could Cover The Spread

This should be an easy game for the Badgers to cover on the road. This spread is actually not as high as I predicted. Wisconsin is facing the one team in the conference everyone wishes they can play. Nebraska allows 79 points per game which is near the bottom of the entire NCAA. It's so bad that Wisconsin doesn't even average 73 points per game on offense so that tells how easy it is to score on Nebraska. Wisconsin shouldn't have any issue covering this spread because they will likely run up the scoring on them. The Badgers leading scorer Johnny Davis averages 22.3 points per game and he should lead the team past Nebraska in this one. Wisconsin is 4-1 on the road this season and are (12-6) against the spread.

Why Nebraska Could Cover The Spread

Believe it or not, the Cornhuskers are 9-10 against the spread this season which is not a bad sign. Even though they have six wins and a majority of them came early in the season, they still have a chance to turn things around. The problem is they have lost nine of their last 10 games and are just not playing well at all. They do contain an elite scoring threat in Bryce McGowens who averages 15.7 points per game. He alongside Alonzo Verge Jr. make a solid duo, as he averages 14.3 points and 5.5 assists on the year. His 5.5 assists are 20th in the NCAA and first in the conference.

Nebraska has a chance to cover this spread if they can contain Davis on Wisconsin. If they force him to take tough shots and rattle him a little bit, then they should be right in this game. It's going to take a huge effort from the entire team to pull this one off. All of Nebraska's wins came at home this season.

Final Wisconsin-Nebraska Prediction & Pick

This is a relatively easy pick for me. Both teams are coming off a loss but the Cornhuskers have lost six-straight games. Wisconsin is going to try and bounce back with a vengeance because they are coming off one of their worst outings of the season. Take the Badgers on the road in this one.
