Marlon Mack and the Indianapolis Colts are set to enter Week 2 of the post-Andrew Luck era with a matchup against the division rival Tennessee Titans. After suffering a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1, the Colts are definitely a team to watch this week.
Needless to say, the Colts have their work cut out for them against a Titans' team that routed the Cleveland Browns last week 43-13. Marcus Mariota looked good and Derrick Henry looked good as well. The Titans' defense also looked like they might be legit this season.
Indianapolis was considered a Super Bowl contender prior to Luck's retirement. With Jacoby Brissett taking over, those expectations have died down a lot. In fact, there are many media members and fans who don't even think the Colts will make the playoffs this season without Luck.
Frank Reich and company are very confident that they are still a contender in the AFC. Even without Luck, the Colts have an improved roster and they feel good about Brissett moving forward. Indianapolis has the chance to make a statement this week with a big-time division win.
All of that being said, let's dive in and take a look at four bold predictions for the Colts this week against the Titans.
4. Indianapolis Forces Four Turnovers
First up, the Colts feel like they have a much-improved defense from last season. They looked solid against the Chargers, but did end up giving them 30 points when everything was said and done.
Things are going to change this week and the Colts are going look much better. Justin Houston and the pass rush will put a lot of pressure on Mariota and the secondary will take advantage. Indianapolis will force at least four turnovers throughout the course of the game and take a lot of pressure off of Brissett and the offense.
3. Jacoby Brissett Breaks Out with 300 Passing Yards, Three Touchdowns
Speaking of Brissett, the quarterback won't need the defense to carry him. He is going to have a big game in his second start as the franchise quarterback of the Colts. Brissett completed 21 of his 27 pass attempts for 190 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in Week 1, but will take his game to a new level against the Titans.
Brissett will break out with a huge 300-yard and three touchdown performance. He will send a message to the rest of the league that he is capable of taking over Luck's role.
2. Marlon Mack Has Another 100-Yard Game
The most surprising aspect of the Colts' performance in Week 1 was the team's production on the ground. After hearing a lot of hype throughout the offseason, Marlon Mack completely lived up to the expectations.
Last week, Mack ripped off 174 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, rounding out to 7.0 yards per carry. Mack will have another big game this week and will rack up another 100 yards. Indianapolis needs the rushing attack on a weekly basis and it will continue this week.
1. The Colts Pull Off a Comfortable Victory
Finally, the Colts are going to get their first injury with Brissett as their starter. This will be a big win for the Colts to get the first win out of their way and get back to playing normal football.
Tennessee showed some good things in Week 1, but they did outplay their potential in some ways. The Colts are a very good football team and they will get the job done to improve to 1-1 on the season.
