The rookie quarterbacks in 2023 aren't wasting time getting thrown into the starting line. All of Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, and Anthony Richardson were named as starters for their respective teams. Richardson, the Indianapolis Colts rookie from Florida, will be without star running back Jonathan Taylor for the foreseeable future due to contract concerns, which is a big loss.

Nonetheless, Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. is going to do whatever it takes to ease the burden on Richardson, per JJ Stankevitz of Colts.com.

“Being a quarterback is probably the hardest job in sports. And for him being so young, I don't want to make it more difficult. I want to make his job easy. Any way I can do that and take on more responsibility, I'm going to try to do that.”

Having a guy such as Pittman at Richardson's disposal is a massive benefit, and the 6-foot-4 wide receiver out of USC has performed well since entering the league. In 2021, he had 88 catches for 1,082 yards with six scores and then had 99 receptions for 925 yards with four touchdowns last season despite the Colts' ongoing quarterback carousel.

It also helps that Pittman is a massive target and can win a lot of jump balls against opposing defenders: “Just let him know hey, send it my way and if I don't catch it then no one's gonna catch it. That gives him confidence to throw up those 50/50 balls — oh, maybe he is, maybe he isn't. No, he's just gonna throw it down there, make a play and that's just gonna build him up more.”

The Colts begin the season at home against Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Richardson-Pittman QB-WR duo will be fun to watch all season long, especially with the running game being a huge question mark.
