The Indianapolis Colts are not strangers to adding high-profile quarterbacks in recent years. But to their misfortune, they haven't found one that sticks. Matt Ryan is their latest attempt to find a QB that will help lead them deep in the playoffs.

Because the roster around him is so strong, Ryan is a strong piece to work with. The new partnership is mutually beneficial, as Ryan's former team, the Atlanta Falcons, was not suited to compete at a high level. Colts head coach Frank Reich told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network that Ryan and the Colts needed each other to reach their potential.

“Like, people can universally agree you got a guy who's still playing at a high level with a team and roster that is built to make some noise. We needed each other.”

The Colts have a strong defense and plenty of talent on offense, namely running back Jonathan Taylor. Reich explained that the coaching staff will work with Ryan and understand what he is familiar with. He plans to integrate the playbook with the concepts that the four-time Pro Bowler knows best.

“We will look through all of his film. We'll pull out concepts that he's done a lot in Atlanta and he's been successful with. We'll listen to how he's thought about those things, how they compliment what we do and then we'll find ways to integrate some of those things.”

The Colts went 9-8 last season, blowing their chance at the postseason by losing their last two games. They should be able to improve greatly and compete for the AFC South title with Ryan.
