New moniker, new slate for the Washington Commanders. It truly feels like a fresh start for the squad, and coach Ron Rivera has already been trying to entice NFL stars to join them.

On top of Rivera's wish list is a franchise quarterback, something the Commanders have sorely lacked in recent years. And with trade rumors involving Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers and Seattle Seahawks stud Russell Wilson, Rivera's sales pitch could get even bigger in the coming days.

The Athletic's Ben Standig noted the specifics of Rivera's come-on for possible recruits, including Rodgers and Wilson. Clearly, the Commanders coach isn't messing around.

Fans by now have heard some version of the sales pitch uttered by Washington’s top football voice. Two 1,000-yard offensive weapons. A highly-rated offensive line. Significant defensive potential. The geographic appeal of living in the D.C. area. We’ll see if any game-changing veterans quarterbacks concur.

Rodgers and Wilson have both hinted that they plan to remain with the Packers and Seahawks, respectively. But seeing how the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals made it to the Super Bowl with marquee quarterbacks, we can't blame Rivera for being bold as he tries to get the Commanders over the hump and make a deep run next season.

“We’d like to believe we would be a viable option for a lot of (quarterbacks). We understand what the capital will take to bring a type (of) player like that here. We believe we have a lot to offer.”

Roger that.
