Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper is nursing a knee injury after sustaining a hit during a first-quarter seven-yard reception in Week 11's road win over the Detroit Lions.

Per the Dallas Morning News' Michael Gehlken on Twitter, Cooper is “still fighting through” the knee ailment and only appeared in about 55% of the Cowboys' 74 offensive snaps.

The 25-year-old former standout receiver at Alabama was acquired midseason last year by Dallas for a first-round pick, coming over from the Oakland Raiders. Cooper is a three-time Pro-Bowl wideout and leading receiver for the Cowboys this season with 886 yards on 56 receptions and seven touchdowns.

While Cooper is franchise quarterback Dak Prescott's top target, the former fourth-overall selection of the 2015 NFL Draft is set to be a free agent at the conclusion of the season unless Dallas extends him. The Cowboys handed star running back Ezekiel Elliott a massive extension in the lead-up to the 2019 season, but Prescott and Cooper—the other two centerpieces of head coach Jason Garrett's offense—remain unsigned for the immediate future of the franchise.

Cooper told the Dallas Morning News' Calvin Watkins two weeks ago he'd “prefer to wait until after the season,” with regards to signing an extension with the Cowboys, however, owner Jerry Jones remained confident Cooper will be on America's Team for a long time.

Per Todd Brock in USA Today Sports' Cowboys Wire:

“As far as extending him,” Jones replied, “I know that no one has that type of information, because I’m the only one that ultimately makes that decision. And I have no reason to think that Amari Cooper won’t finish his career with the Dallas Cowboys.”

The Cowboys have a huge game next week at the New England Patriots and could use a healthy Cooper as a receiving option.
