The Dallas Cowboys have until July to come to an agreement on a long-term contract with Dak Prescott, whom the Cowboys franchise tagged earlier this month.

Dallas' inability to reach a deal with Prescott thus far has caused some concern. But Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee does not seem too worried about it.

“I don’t think we talk about it much at all. I think we obviously know how great of a player Dak is, how great of a leader he is,” Lee said on SiriusXM NFL Radio, via The Dallas Morning News. “And what he’s done for us, really carried us in a lot of ways the last couple of years. We know it’s a matter of time for them to figure out contract situations like that. I think we’ve all been through those or had teammates go through situations like this. And there’s a lot of rhetoric and there’s a lot of talk in the media, but you know when you have a great player like Dak and you have an organization like the Cowboys that takes care of players, it’s a matter of time.”

Lee himself recently re-upped with Dallas, signing a one-year, $4.5 million deal to remain with the club.

But obviously, the circumstances between Prescott and Lee are quite different.

Lee is an aging veteran who is perfectly fine accepting an inexpensive one-year deal. Prescott is looking to get paid, and apparently, he and the Cowboys have yet to reach any middle ground.

More than likely, Lee will be right: both sides should eventually come to terms. But that doesn't change all of the uncertainty that is currently hanging over Dallas.

Prescott has spent the first four years of his career with the Cowboys. He is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he threw for 4,902 yards, 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
