It is bad enough that the New York Giants simply let veteran safety Landon Collins walk without getting anything in return for his services. However, things might just go from bad to worse in East Rutherford as the Giants' arch rival, the Dallas Cowboys, are now reportedly interested in potentially adding Collins this offseason.

According to a weekend report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Cowboys are currently showing interest in Collins, who was not franchise tagged by the Giants earlier in the month. As a result, Collins became an unrestricted free agent, allowing him to sign with any team from around the league that will have him — which could ultimately be the Cowboys.

While it is no secret that the Cowboys could use some additional help in the defensive secondary, Collins does not appear to be the only safety that the NFC East franchise will look at this offseason. With quite a few options currently floating around as free agents, the Cowboys have long been linked to former Seattle Seahawks safety Early Thomas, who has showed continued interest in making his way to Dallas.

However, Collins is younger and a bit more versatile than Thomas, which would explain the team's interest in him at this time. With that being said, Collins is probably the most expensive option of the two as well, which could eventually aid Thomas' chances of heading to Dallas.

The Cowboys, though needing some help to take the next step, will enter next season fresh off a trip to the postseason.
