Denver Broncos linebacker has not been shy about expressing his desire to break some all-time sack records. It appears he will have some competition from Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence.

Miller made it clear that he will be pursuing Michael Strahan's single-season mark of 22.5 sacks moving forward. Lawrence plans on reaching the milestone before he does, via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk:

“My goal is to be the best that’s ever played this game,” Lawrence said. “For sure, I want to beat that sack record, make it my own, so he can talk about beating my record. I’m going to just wait until I get to the season and then worry about sacks.”

Lawrence also gave an encouraging update on the status of his injured shoulder.

“The mobility and my strength is coming back naturally,” Lawrence said. “I’m working every day. I’m able to do things. I’m just still limited. Just taking my time. I’ve got time still.”

There are not many players that can give Miller a run for his money in the sacks department. It is safe to say that Lawrence is one of them after racking up 25 total sacks over the last two seasons en route to signing a lucrative five-year, $105 million deal this offseason.

The race to beat Strahan's record should provide an intriguing storyline as it did last year for Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald. Although Donald ultimately fell just two sacks short of tying the mark, he proved that the record is hardly unbreakable for a premier pass rusher. Both Miller and Lawrence will be looking to take advantage of their position on the edge to finish what the reigning two-time Defensive Player of the Year could not finish.
