Even as there is much doubt on whether Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will rise to the occasion in the NFC wild-card clash with the San Francisco 49ers, defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence sees that the veteran passer will silence his critics.

In speaking during a press conference ahead of the Cowboys’ much-anticipated matchup with the 49ers, Lawrence provided his stamp of approval on Prescott.

“I believe Dak's going to own the moment,” Lawrence said. “He's going to show y'all what he really is about and going to take this playoffs by storm.”

Prescott has not featured in the playoffs in three years. He threw for one passing touchdown and posted a 99.2 passer rating in the NFC divisional round matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. He had his fair share of struggles in the previous game against the Seattle Seahawks, although Dallas prevailed in the end.

Critics of Prescott have continued to point out that he does not have what it takes to lead the Cowboys to crucial wins. He silenced such talk over the regular season, which included his three-touchdown outings against the likes of the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles. More so, he notched two game-winning drives in regular season play as well.

The Cowboys enter the playoffs with not only high expectations to come away with a home win over the 49ers, but also to pull off a deep playoff run. They may need to eliminate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams later this month in order to do just that.

Of course, Prescott first needs to take care of business against a 49ers defense that ranked third in yards allowed per game in the regular season with a 310.0 average.
