Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is doing his part to help those in need as the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact families around the United States.

Elliott took to Instagram to announce an $85,000 donation to the North Texas Food Bank. The proceeds will be used to feed over 400,000 families in the area.

The donations stem from a fundraiser Elliott started in April when he announced he was selling exclusive merchandise (via Taylor Stern of the team website):

In April, Zeke announced he was teaming up with CentreTX to release exclusive merchandise and donate 100% of proceeds of sales from his merchandise line to the North Texas Food Bank.

Elliott himself contracted COVID-19 in June, though he has since recovered.

The donation seems especially appropriate for “Zeke,” given his “Feed Me” celebration after every big run.

Elliott rushed for over 1,300 yards in 2019, something he has done in three of his first four years in the NFL. The former Ohio State star also hauled in 54 receptions for 420 yards, and his 14 touchdowns were the second-most of his career.

Much of the Cowboys' offseason focus has been dedicated to quarterback Dak Prescott, who has just one week to finalize a long-term extension with the team. However, Elliott is still the workhorse that makes everything go on offense.

The 24-year-old led the NFL in rushing attempts in 2016 and 2018, and Dallas' ability to establish the ground game frees up Prescott and his slew of talented receivers to make plays down the field.

Elliott is making a difference by feeding those in need, and the Cowboys figure to feed their star back plenty in 2020.
