Travis Frederick's sudden retirement this offseason caught the Dallas Cowboys by surprise, but he believes the team will be fine without him. As he prepares for life after football, Frederick is impressed with Dallas' roster ahead of the 2020 NFL season.

During a conversation with Mac Engel of the Star-Telegram, Frederick shared what he thought of the Cowboys' current roster:

“The team is set up extremely well. The front office did a great job of getting people in place,” he said. “On paper, it looks like a really, really solid team. They have a chance to go far.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Cowboys have added CeeDee Lamb to a group that already included Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, and Michael Gallup. Of course, the elephant in the room is the status of Dak Prescott's contract talks with the team.

Nevertheless, the Cowboys expect Prescott to be starting for the team in Week 1. Lastly, even with Frederick heading to retirement, Dallas boasts an incredibly formidable offensive line.

While the defense notably lost Byron Jones and Robert Quinn, they still have Jaylon Smith, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Leighton Vander Esch to build around. Not to mention, the Cowboys inked deals with veterans Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe.

Just by looking at the roster, the Cowboys figure to be a contender in the NFC in 2020. Frederick is excited to watch his former team take the field next season.

“I’m excited to see them and watch them, and hopefully provide some outside guidance. I know whoever takes over at center will be well-cared for.”

It remains to be seen if Joe Looney or someone else replaces Frederick in 2020. Regardless of who it is, the retired center believes the Cowboys have the make-up of a dangerous team next season.
