Four-time Pro Bowler Everson Griffen announced on Friday that he would be not returning to the Minnesota Vikings where he spent all 10 seasons of his career since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. With the veteran defensive end no longer a Viking, David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Dallas Cowboys have interest in the 32-year-old pass rusher.

Last season, the Cowboys ranked 19th in the defense in the NFL with 39 total sacks and 27th in scoring defense. As a result, Dallas has been on a mission this offseason to improve their pass rush and defense as a whole.

The losses of veteran DE Robert Quinn to the Chicago Bears and top cornerback Byron Jones to the Miami Dolphins certainly don't help the Cowboys' defense, but if they could manage to land a talent as productive as Griffen, Dallas should still have one of the NFL's best defensive lines next year.

In 2019, Giffen recorded 41 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, eight sacks and one interception while being named to the Pro Bowl for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

Pair Griffen with DeMarcus Lawrence, who has notched 35 sacks in the last three seasons combined, and the Cowboys defense could very well be on their way for a strong year.

The interest between Everson Griffen and the Cowboys may very well be mutual, as the star defensive reposted on his IG story a post by a  fan account that suggested he come to Dallas.
