The Seattle Seahawks are only a number of days away from kicking off their 2018 NFL season schedule, but there have been no sightings yet of safety Earl Thomas, who is still on a holdout.

And according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Thomas not playing in Week 1 of the regular season is something that can be considered as a foregone conclusion, via Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com.

“Until something changes,” Rapoport elaborated on NFL GameDay Season Preview on Tuesday, “my understanding is Earl Thomas is not expected to show up and play for the Seahawks.”

In addition to that, Rapoport also reported that the Dallas Cowboys, whose interest in Earl Thomas has never been a secret, have shown their willingness to throw a third-round pick in a prospective deal. However, it's still not the second-rounder “and change” that the Seahawks want for the six-time Pro Bowler safety.

As of the moment, any deal between the Seahawks and the Cowboys with regards to the fate of Thomas is unlikely to push through, especially when considering Dallas executive vice president Stephen Jones’ statement last week that his team and Seattle have not had any meaningful discussions of late.

The Cowboys do not seem to be keen on surrendering any asset worth more than a third-round pick for Thomas, who may have expressed interest to play for Dallas before, but is only a controllable commodity until the end of the 2018 season.

Thomas played for 14 games (all starts) for the Seahawks last season and recorded two interceptions and a touchdown to go with 88 total tackles.
