It has been nothing short than a rough start to his NFL career for Dallas Cowboys Defensive end Randy Gregory that saw him miss the entire 2017 season due to suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy for the second time.

However, it appears that Gregory has taken a huge step forward as the NFL has decided to reinstate him on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the 2018 campaign, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The 25-year-old has had a difficult time staying on the field as he has missed 30 out of the last 32 regular-season games due to violating the league's substance abuse policy multiple times. The last time that he played in an NFL game was back in the 2016 regular season finale.

In his second year, he played in two games where he recorded a sack with nine total tackles. He was limited to just 12 games in his rookie campaign due to an ankle injury in 2015 where he recorded seven total tackles.

Although this is s big step in the right direction, he hasn't been cleared yet to practice as he will be able to be at training camp later this month and take part in team meetings, conditioning workouts along with other similar physical activities.

He first has to go through his arrangements for his clinical resources in Dallas as well following the league's substance policy then he Gregory will be able to a full participant in practice and play in a game.

His possible presence could help provide the Cowboys with a much-needed pass rush presence as standout defensive tackle David Irving is serving a four-game suspension to begin the season after violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

This is an opportunity for Gregory to get his career back on track while put behind him his past issues to become a key part of the Dallas' defensive front next season and possibly beyond that.
