Damian Lillard made history last night scoring a Portland Trail Blazers franchise record 59 points in a 101-86 victory over the Utah Jazz.

Before the game, he made an interesting decision regarding the uniforms the Blazers would wear.

Via NBA.com:

“I saw a picture of Terry Porter and that whole group on Instagram and they all had black on with white socks and dark shoes,” said Lillard. “I was like ‘That look pretty cool.’”

The Blazers had never worn back at home since Lillard has been in Portland. He's team captain so it was his call and the Jazz agreed to wear white for the game.

This might not be the last time the Blazers go black at home with Lillard having the kind of night he did. He scored 26 points in the first quarter on his way to the record-setting performance.

Lillard says another key was that he was pressing all night.

“I’ve felt like this a few times, but even when I do, I take a step back instead of just kind of pressing for the whole game,” said Lillard. “Tonight, I pressed for the whole game and that’s why I ended up with the most points I ever had.”

Whatever it was, it worked and the Blazers will look for more of the same when the playoffs begin in the near future.
