Since being traded to the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, D’Angelo Russell has not made any comment on it, and has also been quiet on social media.

However, things changed recently as he finally broke his silence and tweeted for the first time since the surprising deal the Los Angeles Lakers made. The 21-year-old took to his Twitter account where he posted about feeling blessed to be part of the Nets.

In two seasons with the Lakers, Russell averaged 14.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.

Now with the Nets, he will have the opportunity to play alongside a former Laker in Jeremy Lin. Lin rose to stardom during his days with the New York Knicks and has since showed that he is capable of being given a lot of playing time, and also run the offense for an NBA team.

It’s still unclear what Russell’s exact role with the Nets will be, but it’s expected that he’ll receive plenty more touches now. If there’s any good news for the Brooklyn faithful though, the team’s newest acquisition is taking the trade like a true professional.
