Doc Rivers doesn't think much has changed.

An extremely eventful NBA offseason in which the 73-win Golden State Warriors acquired former MVP Kevin Durant was not enough to convince the Los Angeles Clippers head coach that the landscape of the league has changed.

Simply put, Rivers was already prepared for the Warriors to be one of the best teams in the league.

Via The Boston Globe:

“I’m not sure [if the landscape changed with Durant] because [the Warriors] were pretty good already,” Rivers said. “This two years with the balloon [salary cap] has allowed teams to do what happened. I think that’s the only drawback. It was just normal free agency. Actually, the Celtics probably would have had a better opportunity [to sign Durant] because there wouldn’t have been so many other teams involved. We certainly wouldn’t have been involved.”

Rivers maintains that this summer was just “normal free agency” aside from what the Warriors were able to do to get Durant. It's also interesting that he thinks otherwise, the Celtics would have had a better chance at landing KD.

The salary cap boom allowed for the Warriors, as well as the Clippers, to be able to pursue Durant this summer. Some believe that this isn't good for the league and Rivers may be in that camp considering his comments that it was the “only drawback”.

Either way, with a little over two weeks until the start of preseason, this upcoming season will be one of the most interesting in recent history because of Durant's move to the Warriors.
