Collecting draft picks, and subsequently worrying about them, is not the job of a head coach. No matter how many selections they have, the man of the sideline has a job: win games. Even in South Beach, where the Miami Dolphins are supposedly tanking, that remains true.

First-year Dolphins head coach Brian Flores is not there to worry about where draft picks wind up, that's the job of general manager Chris Grier. A couple weeks ago, he addressed that to his team. They got the message.

He said he’s not worried about the draft,” right tackle Jesse Davis said, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “He’s worried about winning games; [that’s] what he told us. He was telling us, ‘We’re trying to win these games, guys. F [expletive] the draft, we’re not worried about that. We’re worried about the next opponent. We’re worried about getting a win.’ He’s done a good job.”

In the last two weeks, Flores' Dolphins have won back-to-back games against the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts. The wins sent a clear message to everyone outside of the locker room: no matter the players traded away, the Dolphins won't roll over.

“You hear the outsiders and whatever, but the coach said we aren’t worried about next year. He showed he’s about winning and said he believes in us, that our focus isn’t on next year or the year after that,” said linebacker Jerome Baker before the winning streak. “Our focus is on right now and we have the pieces to win. We believe that.”

Flores pulling together back-to-back wins may harm the Dolphins' draft picks. He couldn't care less.
