Is Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa's arm as strong as Tom Brady's? Tyreek Hill implied it, and New England Patriots executive Scott Pioli agrees.

Tua Tagovailoa's arm strength has become a hot topic, and new teammate Tyreek Hill recently made some headlines when he stated that Tua was more accurate than Patrick Mahomes. Now, it's New England Patriots executive Scott Pioli chiming in. Pioli says that Tagovailoa's arm strength is actually more on par with future Hall of Famer Tom Brady.

“Tua’s arm strength will be just fine,” Pioli told the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson. “First five years of Tom Brady’s career, critics said over and over that he can’t throw the deep ball. It’s all dink and dunk. Brady was deadly accurate. He was being told to make high percentage throws, because that’s what he could do best at that time. As he got older, he got stronger.”

With new head coach Mike McDaniel in charge, and the Dolphins obtaining Hill through trade, Miami's offense might be rather explosive in 2022. Tagovailoa will be directing that on the field. He is entering the third year of his NFL career after graduating from Alabama.

“Bro, he has a heck of an arm,” Hill said.  “He’s accurate. He can throw the deep ball, and he actually goes through his reads, where people are like on Twitter like saying, ‘Oh, he doesn’t go through his reads.’ Man, this dude is that dude.”

Some think that Tagovailoa may be facing a make-or-break year. That may be true, but he at least has the tools and the potential to have a great season. Aside from having Hill, Tagovailoa also has Jaylen Waddle, another former Alabama standout, on offense. Waddle set the NFL rookie catches record in 2021, and that is exciting for Dolphins fans.

“I'm excited about where he's at,” McDaniel said. “Tua is very, very critical on his ball placement, and he's a very accurate quarterback as a result. Yesterday, he had some throws that he demands better of himself.”

The Honolulu, Hawaii, native was the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2017 and the No. 32 overall talent in the country. In three seasons with the Crimson Tide, Tua Tagovailoa threw for 7,442 yards with 87 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

He certainly needs to produce big numbers this coming NFL season, too.
