The future of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry has been the team's biggest storyline going into the offseason. Although Miami announced the decision to franchise tag him, it comes with the presumption that they will be looking to move the Pro Bowl wideout at some point before the 2018 NFL Draft.

There is even speculation that they could be doing it to acquire one of the draft's biggest quarterback prospects. According to Tony Pauline of draftanalyst.com, the Dolphins are rumored to have plenty of interest in UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen:

There’s a lot of talk surrounding the Dolphins trading receiver Jarvis Landry, who was recently franchised. Several in the league tell me they believe a Landry trade won’t happen until draft day, as the receiver could be used as ammunition to move up and secure one of the top three quarterbacks should any of trio start to slip. People also point to the fact that Tannenbaum is close to Super Bowl-winning GM Howie Roseman of the Eagles and would like nothing more than to mimic Roseman’s success in making a bold move for a young quarterback and striking gold.  Speculation is Josh Rosen is the signal caller of choice.

The news may come as a bit of a surprise considering the Dolphins had been seemingly content with current franchise quarterback Ryan Tannehill. However, his performance has largely fluctuated throughout his career. To make matters worse, he was forced to miss the entire 2017 season with a torn ACL. This has raised plenty of questions regarding whether or not Tannehill is the right player under center moving forward.

As a result, the Dolphins could be in need of a serious contingency plan in case Tannehill does not pan out. Miami is currently not in a position to acquire Rosen or any of the top quarterback prospects in this year's draft. So, general manager Mike Tannenbaum will have to work some serious magic from now until then if they are to potentially get their (new) signal-caller of the future.
