With nothing to lose due to a 2-9 record, the Miami Dolphins pulled off a trick play to take the lead against the Philadelphia Eagles in their Week 13 matchup. The Dolphins employed punter Matt Haack to take a goal line snap in the second quarter at home—Haack then scrambled a moment before throwing a shovel pass to kicker Jason Sanders for the touchdown (via NFL).

The 25-year-old Haack, a former undrafted free agent who signed with the Miami Dolphins out of Arizona State in 2017, threw his first pass attempt in a game since his rookie season. That other pass attempt was an interception three seasons ago.

Sanders, 24, was the beneficiary of the trick play and touchdown shovel pass from Haack. A second-year placekicker and undrafted free agent out of New Mexico, Sanders had the unexpected opportunity to score on special teams (it was fourth-and-goal for Miami) by finding the end zone instead of attempting a field goal or extra point.
