Philadelphia Eagles coach Doug Pederson confirmed on Friday that Carson Wentz has a stress fracture in his back and that it will take three months to make a full recovery.

“He has a stress injury evolved over time and requires no surgery,” Pederson said via NFL.com. “I'm not asking or answering any more questions about it. We're playing the Rams in two days if you guys haven't figured this out. He's listed as questionable and that's the way it is.”

Pederson didn't want to go any farther about the injury but wanted to emphasize that this isn't an injury that is going to require surgery. Pederson also said that Wentz is officially questionable for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, even though he hasn't practiced yet this week. It's still unclear if the Eagles plan on starting him, but Pederson made it clear the only way he will run him out there is if there is no risk for further injury.

“If we put him out there, there has to be 100 percent that there is no risk of anything further,” Pederson said.

Even with the questionable designation, it's hard to imagine the Eagles will risk him by running him out there in this game. The Eagles could still make the playoffs but it's going to be an uphill climb and Nick Foles has shown he is a quarterback that can lead this team to victory. If the Eagles do run out Wentz and he gets hurt worse, there is going to be a lot of heat on the coaching staff for playing him.
