Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz had a monster year this past season, hauling in 116 receptions for 1,163 yards and eight touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Is it possible that Ertz can replicate that production in 2019? ESPN doesn't think so.

While ESPN still has Ertz having a big year, its projections are not close to what the 28-year-old did in 2018, as it has Ertz catching 92 passes for 880 yards and seven scores.

That definitely seems more realistic.

Ertz is certainly one of the best tight ends in the league, but his 2018 campaign was also definitely an outlier, as he had never caught more than 78 passes in a single season before his 116-catch eruption.

The Orange, Ca. native, who played his collegiate football at Stanford University, was originally selected by the Eagles in the second round (35th pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He played in all 16 games during his rookie season, snaring 36 balls for 469 yards while reaching the end zone four times. He then followed that up by registering 58 catches for 702 yards and three touchdowns in 2014.

Ertz did not make his first Pro Bowl until 2017, however, after he finished with 74 receptions for 824 yards and eight scores, which marked the best season of his career until his breakout in 2018.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which it won nine games and snuck into the playoffs during the final week of the regular season. The Eagles then went on to upset the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round before falling to the New Orleans Saints in the Divisional Round.
