Quarterback Nick Foles put together a stellar performance in Super Bowl 52 against the New England Patriots that helped lead the Philadelphia Eagles to their first win on that stage in franchise history.

In the days that have followed, Foles has been the recipient of several honors that include having Feb. 9 declared as “Nick Foles Day” by the mayor of Austin, Texas. He has now received another unique honor with fellow Austin native Actor Matthew McConaughey buying a one-page ad congratulating him.

It's no secret that McConaughey is a huge sports fan and the opportunity to recognize a sports figure from Austin was a chance to do something special.

It's a deserving gesture from the Oscar-winning actor to the 29-year-old, who is coming off the biggest performance of his career. He was at his best against the defending champions in Super Bowl 52, completing 28 of 43 passes for 373 yards and three touchdowns. He also held a 106.1 passer rating and recorded a receiving touchdown in the process of becoming the first player in NFL history to throw and catch a touchdown in the Super Bowl.

Foles was able to accomplish despite Tom Brady, who is arguably the best quarterback in league history, putting up a Super Bowl record with 505 passing yards along with three passing touchdowns. He didn't appear to be phased in any manner going back and forth with Brady on the field leading the way with his arm. In fact, he showed that all through this year's playoffs throwing for 971 yards on 72.6 percent completion rate with six touchdown passes and an interception while holding a 115.7 passer rating. He also recorded more than 240 passing yards and hold a passer rating above 100 in each contest.

This is simply another well-deserved honor that Foles is benefitting from after leading the Eagles to something that has never been accomplished before in team history.
