Nick Foles will be playing against his old Philadelphia Eagles teammates very soon. The NFL released its preseason schedules Tuesday, and Foles will be involved in one of the most interesting preseason matchups.

Foles, the new Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback, will face the Eagles in Week 2 of the preseason as Jacksonville hosts Philly. Foles, of course, signed a huge contract with the Jaguars after leading the Eagles to a late-season playoff run for the second straight season.

Foles famously led the Eagles to a Super Bowl win two seasons ago, and won the game's MVP award. After taking over for an injured Carson Wentz last season and again leading a magical run, there were some rumblings about the Eagles potentially keeping Foles.

Ultimately, the Eagles decided they didn't want the controversy of having both Wentz and Foles on the roster. They opted to roll with their young franchise quarterback. If Wentz falters next season, that decision will be second-guessed endlessly.

The Jaguars still believe they're a competent quarterback away from championship contention. They hope Foles will take them back to where they were in 2017. Wentz is on the verge of developing a reputation for being injury-prone, and he absolutely needs to start 2019 strong in order to silence any doubters. Preseason games don't generally mean anything, but this one will be more noteworthy than your typical August exhibition match.

Fortunately for fans, we should actually get to see each quarterback play a bit. Starters usually play only  a series or so in the preseason opener, but play more extensively in the second game. It's no guarantee, but we could see almost a full half of Wentz versus Foles in this spot.
