Despite the fact that Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby tore his ACL last November, the NFC East franchise ultimately decided to bring the veteran defender back to the “City of Brotherly Love” this offseason. While Darby continues to regain his health, the Eagles defensive back also knows that he must encounter a healthy season in order to solidify his NFL future.

“I’d love to be back here after the one-year deal,’’ Darby recently said, via Philly.com. “I love it here. I had two back-to-back injuries, which played a huge role in things. But if I have a healthy year, I can go out there and make plays and we’ll see.’’

Aiding such a notion, Darby hopes to be up and running at 100 percent by Week 1 of the 2019-20 regular season. Of course, this will be no easy task as he suffered the aforementioned setback in November.

“My rehab is going great,’’ Darby said on Monday, via Philly.com. “My goal is to be back by Week 1. It’ll be up to the doctors and the trainers, and we’ll see how everything goes. But that’ll be right around 9-10 months, which is right on pace for how long it takes to get back”

With the surging Eagles coming off back-to-back postseason appearances, the first of which notably resulted in a Super Bowl title, Philadelphia decided to sign the injured Darby to a one-year deal for the 2019-20 season.

However, the Eagles will certainly need a healthy Darby to make it three straight postseason appearances as the Dallas Cowboys remain a threat in the NFC East.
