Malcolm Jenkins had a tremendous six-year run with the Philadelphia Eagles, becoming one of the better safeties in Philly since Brian Dawkins departed the City of Brotherly Love for Denver back in 2009. But Jenkins' Eagles tenure came to an end after Philadelphia declined his option.

Will Parks draws the assignment of replacing the three-time Pro Bowler after signing a one-year deal with the Eagles on March 21. However, Parks is not putting the cart before the horse (via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk):

Nothing’s been set in stone about how the Eagles will lineup once the regular season starts, but the signing means there’s a good chance Parks starts alongside Rodney McLeod in defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz’s defense. That would mean comparisons to what Jenkins did in Philadelphia, but Parks said on a Tuesday conference call that he’s not ready for such discussions yet.

“I’ve got to prove myself,” Parks said, via the Philadelphia Inquirer. “At the end of the day, we can talk about this and talk about that, but I haven’t played here yet . . . I’ve got to put myself in position to talk about that.”

Parks started in seven of 14 games with the Broncos last season, finishing the season with an interception and a forced fumble.

The Eagles are reshuffling the secondary as they grapple with cap space considerations. While they declined their option on Jenkins, the Eagles made the big move to trade for star cornerback Darius Slay, and they also re-signed Jalen Mills.

In fact, parks might not have to worry about “replacing” Jenkins, as Mills said he is likely moving from cornerback to safety.
