All offseason long trade speculation swirled around Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz. The assumption was that at some point, he would be dealt somewhere else.

With the regular season a little more than a week away, Ertz has remained with the Eagles and on Wednesday he spoke about the matter for the first time this year. The mood between he and Philly has seemed to change.

“This is the place I want to be, this is the place I want to retire. … I'm moving on from everything that happened this offseason. There have been apologies.”

When asked why he has remained silent all offseason amid the talks and speculation Ertz said, “I love this city too much to burn it down.”

Ertz has been super reliable and durable over his 8-year career, all of which has been with the Eagles. Last year he was limited to only 11 games, the first time in his career that he missed extensive time.

There was a lot of chaos after the Eagles underwhelmed last year and it led to the departures of head coach Doug Pederson and quarterback Carson Wentz. Ertz appeared to be disgruntled himself, leading to reports that Philly would seek a trade partner for him. Now that doesn't seem to be the case.

Jalen Hurts will need all the weapons he can get this year. Having Ertz back and healthy would be a nice boost for Philly's offense even if he isn't quite the tight end he was even two or three years ago.
