The Dallas Cowboys made a huge splash to acquire a much-needed wide receiver as they struck a deal with the Oakland Raiders for Amari Cooper. But as it turns out, their NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles were also one of their big rivals for Cooper’s services.

Per Michael Silver of NFL Network, the Eagles offered a second-round pick to the Raiders in exchange for Cooper. But the Raiders wanted a first-rounder for the former No. 4 overall pick. And luckily for them, they got that from the Cowboys, who have since been criticized for their pay that much for the young wideout.

The Eagles are expected to be one of the most aggressive teams in the trade deadline. One of the main areas they’re looking to upgrade upon is at wide receiver, which is why they placed a legitimate bid to the Raiders for Cooper.

They currently have Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor, and Jordan Matthews as their main wideouts after Mike Wallace and Mack Hollins suffered long-term injuries early in the season.

Apart from Cooper, the Eagles have also been linked with trades for other big names such as running backs Le’Veon Bell and LeSean McCoy, as well as cornerback Patrick Peterson.

After missing out on Cooper, it remains to be seen if they will be able to swing a blockbuster trade for an even bigger name next week. But with the Eagles struggling at just 3-4, they will likely continue to look to make some changes to help turn the team’s fortunes.
